Today, communication on campus is increasingly complex as students, faculty, and staff find themselves co-existing on college campuses with individuals from different social and ethnic backgrounds.  Individuals communicating on campus are interacting with people from different cultures in the classroom, in their dormitories, and in social settings.

For many students, communication on campus may be the time first time they are away from home and are attempting to make new connections with a wide variety of people, many of whom have a diverse cultural background.  To take full advantage of the multicultural cosmopolitan setting on campus, students, as well as faculty and staff must be equipped with the skills to effectively navigate these cultural differences.
